Actors Syndicate was founded by Robert Duncan McNeill to connect actors directly to working professionals in the industry. Every teacher and guest artist at our studio has years of professional experience in television, film, or theater and are ready to share their inside knowledge with you.
Robert Duncan McNeill grew up in Atlanta, GA and began his love of acting, entertaining, and telling stories there. He left for NYC to pursue a career as an actor. After attending the prestigious Juilliard School for Drama as a member of Group 17, he went on to a Daytime Emmy nomination for his role on ALL MY CHILDREN.
From there, he performed in the original Broadway cast of John Guare’s acclaimed SIX DEGREES OF SEPARATION and in the first National Tour of the original Broadway production of INTO THE WOODS. He appeared in dozens of tv shows including LA LAW, QUANTUM LEAP, THE TWILIGHT ZONE and MURDER SHE WROTE, among many others. He starred in MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE, a 1980s cult classic film, along side Courtney Cox. As an actor, he is best known for his starring role as Tom Paris in the long running series STAR TREK: VOYAGER, appearing in nearly 200 episodes of that series. It was during his time on Star Trek that he transitioned from acting to the director role.
As a Television Director for the past 25 years, he has worked with some of the most successful and respected professionals in the field. He spent a total of 10 years working for Paramount television and the Star Trek franchise, directing numerous episodes. Shows he has directed include SUPERNATURAL, DAWSON’S CREEK, CHUCK, SMASH, BLUE BLOODS, STAR TREK, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, THE O.C., V, THE MENTALIST, SUBURGATORY, 666 PARK AVENUE, GIRLFRIEND’S GUIDE TO DIVORCE, THE ARRANGEMENT and THE GIFTED, to name just a few. He is in an elite group of veteran directors, having directed over 100 episodes of television. He has directed 4 network pilots including the popular SAMANTHA WHO? starring Christina Applegate, for ABC and HEARTBEAT starring Melissa George, for NBC.
Robert has been a Television Executive Producer for 14 years. He has produced the shows WHAT ABOUT BRIAN, CHUCK, 666 PARK AVENUE, GIRLFRIENDS GUIDE TO DIVORCE, THE ARRANGEMENT, and THE GIFTED. Robert has also worked in development and sold 6 scripts to networks.
Robert is excited to share his years of knowledge with those working to pursue a professional acting, directing, or writing career. And he plans to use the connections he’s made throughout his career to bring in some of the best working in the industry to share their insight with you as well.
